This has been asked/debated before I'm sure, but I just got a cd rom drive.
Can anyone diagram a cable / tell me where to buy / sell me a cable to
attach direct audio out to some input on the gravis?
thanks,
mike

Not in the FAQ...
1. Does anyone know what the CD2 pinouts are on the new gus cards? I have
the cd1 pinouts (l-gr-gr-r), but was wondering what that cd2 was for.
it is a 3 conductor dip male socket.
2. I was able to play an audio cd though the gus, but only while in
windows, is there a dos driver or program that does this? I am running a
playcd.exe program that came with the cd.
Thanks

Subject: controller 7 in Mega-Em
To whoever that was yesterday... Yes, you are correct. Mega-Em
completely ignores controller 7 (channel volume) messages. It's its
biggest limitation, so far.
Plans have been in the works for ages and eons to fix it, but nothing has
been done about it.
Personally I'm really starting not to care anymore, as Mega-Em will be
useless in another six months anyway as more and more companies move to a
32-bit interface, either proprietary or DPMI. In either case Mega-Em will
shortly be worthless anyway, and if we don't get direct support by then
we're going to be out in the cold.
I'm really pissed off about this crap with Sierra. I can't play their new
games in Windows because they're too too slow and they lock up. I can't
play their new games in DOS using SBOS (which would be a terrible thing to
have to do anyway) because of the
2#%#$^$#@#$%#$@%T$E%^$%#@$%^#^%$#!%$%^R#^$@E^#^% DOS4GW DOS extender they
used which locks up on my motherboard.
In short, after nearly a year with no support and barely any significant
changes in the state of things, I'm really starting to get fed up as GUS
owner.
I was positive at first, then negative, then positive again. I remained
positive and hopeful for a long time but it's souring. I just can't see
major support for the GUS, and they're rendering Mega-Em useless, so we're
just screwed screwed screwed.

Subject: Day of the tentacle gmidi.ims
I have just bought Day of The tentacle, and it looks like a really good
game.. but using sbos the sound is nothing like as good as the demo
version which I have used with megaem, since the roland/gmidi drivers are
not included. The readme indicates that you can send off for a free
upgrade, but there is nothing in the box regarding this. The shop has no
more copies and since I bought it for a really good price I am holding
onto it.
So... Does anyone know where I can get hold of the update?
The files req are Gmidi.ims or roland.ims...
I tried copying over the ones from the demo, and this crashed the
machine.
Perhaps someone could send me them?
thanks,
Iain

Hmmm. I think you have to call the Gravis BBS to get it... Wouldn't it be
great if there was a 415/510 San Francisco Bay Area Gravis SUpport node :)

Thats why yours work because 70ns is like 100ns of other manufacturers for the
NMBS brand, the -08 plainly don't work at all unless it's Video Cards
which could care less since it doesn't use the Paging mode..

Listen (to yourself). BTW, I'm not asking for software, only adequate
documentation on the patches. FTS told me that "patches are not the
focus of the SDK". You buy that? Do you know anything about patches?

Many like to dish out 'advice'. It's free! I don't know what you are trying

Not above 7, either.

Subject: Looking for Voyetra (Piano Works) midi driver for GUS!!
Hi, Does any know if there is a Voyetra midi driver for the GUS??
These drivers are used for several dos midi programs including Piano Works
and Band in a box. I have Piano Works, which is a great piano instruction
program by the way, and I would really like to use it with the GUS midi
port. I contacted Piano Works, and they told me that they do now write
the midi drivers them selves. They get them from a company called Voyetra
in New York, which I have not been able to contact. Right now, I have
a MM401 midi card in my system, just to accomidate Piano Works. All the
other midi software I have works fine the GUS midi port. I really need
the mm401 card for something else. If anyone can help me locate this
Voyetra driver I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
John

First off, has anyone gotten Mortal Kombat for PC to work completely
with either sbos 2.10 or mega-em 2.? (whatever the first version w/
SB support is...)??? It works pretty good with SBOS.. But the
sounds are just a little off.. At least compred to a real SB.
Also, with mega-em, I can get the Roalnd support to work, BTW it
sounds AWESOME, but the SB support won't work. It gives me the
following message:
Unsupported Sound Blaster DSP Function: 00
What does that mean?? Because I would LOVE to use the SB & Roland
setting. Let me know! I dunno if another version of SBOS would
work better or what, but I would appreciate some help.

P.S. I dunno if it is possible to use Ultramid with it or not.
MK has files in the dir of the type *.drv... But those obviously
not ADV files.. Someone with knowhow lemme know.. hehe

Subject: MPU-401/General MIDI issues
Hi all. I just went out and picked up a Yamaha PSR-510. It's a pretty good,
mid-range GM compliant keyboard. I'm interested (obviously) in hooking it up
to the MIDI port on my GUS. My question, however, is will games labeled
"General MIDI" and working with Megaem work through the Gravis MIDI port, or
do I need a "true" MPU-401 port?
Also, I remember some rumors awhile back about MEgaem eventually having
MPU-401 emulation through the port?
Thanks.

Subject: Power Chords Problem
I recently got a GUS. In general, it works great. The one program
that I cannot get any sound out of is Power Chords. Everything
else seems to work fine: MIDIDEMO.BAT, MODDEMO.BAT, Windows Patch Man,
Kid Works 2 (a Windows-based children's game that uses the sound board).
Power Chords. Tried demo, tutorial, main program.
Opened instrument window and clicked with right button. No sound.
Setup:
Hardware: Dell 310: 386-20, 4 MB RAM
Gravis Ultrasound: 256K memory, v2.06
MS-DOS 6.0
Non-windows, SBOS not loaded: 615K conventional memory free
Windows 3.1: 386 Enhanced Mode, 4,903 KB Free, 86% Free system resources.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi! I know the 7th Guest has been out for a while so I'll make this one brief:
Is there a special way to set up the game for a GUS and how do you do it?
I have the t7gfix3.zip file from epas, but I can't seem to figure out exactly what I should be getting from it.
Thanx in advance.
